What Would Happen If…?

My doors were completely blown off by a suggestion I received this week. This suggestion had such an incredible impact on me (with its simplicity), I had to share it!

We were talking about some of the life changes that I’ve been mulling over for the last while. These are things that simply feel good in my heart and my gut and have the potential to help many people. A question often comes up is “What if I fail?”. I know that I’m not the only person in the world to fear failure from time to time.

By allowing “What if I fail?” to be my focus, I stay suspended, taking no action at all, continuing to over-analyze, which increases that fear.

This brilliant woman said these simple words to me:

  • What if you turned that “What if I fail?” into “What if I succeed?“.

BAM! Whoa! That hit me right in between the eyes.

What if I were to succeed? What would that mean for my life? Health? Happiness? Finances? Future? What positive difference could my action make in the lives of others?

The possibilities danced before my eyes. Couple “What if I succeed?” with “If this was my last day on earth and I knew it, would I regret not having taken the chance?” and the answer is a resounding “Hell Yes”!

For me, the failure is really in doing nothing at all.

Successes are built on multiple failures and learning from them, we know this from the world’s most “successful” people. I trust that I will succeed by showing up, dipping my toe in, learning, adjusting my course and then showing up again, perhaps in a slightly different way. The same applies to you.

Here are 3 questions for you:

  1. What is one area of your life where fear is holding you back?
  2. What if you were to succeed? What could that mean to your life?
  3. On your deathbed, would you regret not having tried?

Today is the first day of the rest of your life…How will you spend your remaining days?

Please let me know what you think!
